Every turn, you focus your population in any combination of 5 directions. Your population gets to work following your orders and will grow depending on the competition.

For instance if everyone else is focusing on Lard but you are focusing on Guns then you will slap them all and reap the reward (whilst laughing manically and describing your future plans to a single prisoner who will later escape, lead a rebellion that brings down the evil empire and then marry your daughter).
